First, sorry about the delay in posts. I had the last post "December Round Up" written over break and I thought I published it but apparently it was in my drafts folder...oops!
Well, here we are now in 2013 and January is already coming to a close! The older I get I definitely feel like these months fly by during the school year. It's like I blink and we're onto the next month! (It could just be sleep deprivation from a non-sleeping-through-the-night-baby, but who knows?!?!?) Anyway, we have lots of great things going on in Room 350 this month!
We returned from our winter break and began discussing winter & snowmen. Our morning messages referenced the weather in winter, how to make a snowman and more. Check some examples out below:

We also had a special visitor come to school...Rescue Rex! He's a dinosaur that teaches young students about 911. He sings lots of great songs and teaches the kids when to call 911 and what they need to be able to tell the 911 operator--their full name, address, phone number and what the emergency is. These are good things to review with your child at home.
We've read lots of books and stories--both fiction and non-fiction--about winter, too. Now if we could only get some snow so we could experience winter firsthand!!! Check back soon for pictures of our unit on The Mitten!
