As this week comes to a close, I wanted to share with you some highlights of the past few days and all the kids have been learning. We focused on pumpkins this week and our morning meetings introduced new information about pumpkins each day. On Monday, we came up with a list of adjectives to describe what a pumpkin looks like (the kindergarteners have been learning that making lists is one way to write so this was a great companion exercise). On Tuesday & Wednesday we learned about the parts of a pumpkin and cut one in half so we could view the insides. Thursday & Friday's focus was the life cycle of a pumpkin from seed to pumpkin. Check out the slideshow below to view our Morning Messages from the week:
The kindergarteners have extended their pumpkin learning during our afternoon lessons. They drew & painted their own pumpkin and wrote their own describing words by sounding them out and writing the sounds they hear in each word.
They also did a few parts of the pumpkin & life cycle of the pumpkin activities...
They also completed their pin punch map of North America as part of our Social Studies research.
Here are a few more photos from our week. Also check the slieshow on the main page for some new additions.
